When did you start playing guitar and who were your influences? I WAS 67 AND IT WAS CHRIS HOLMES.
What were the first bands that you were involved with Pre-W.A.S.P.? THE BLACKIE LAWLESS BAND #1 THE BLACKIE LAWLESS BAND #2 & THE BLACKIE LAWLESS BAND #3.
When did you meet Blackie and how did you become involved with him? A FRIEND THAT WAS A STOWAWAY ON THE ARK WITH NOAH (KNOWALL) LAWLESS.
Who was in the first incarnation of W.A.S.P and was it called Circus Circus? NO, IT WAS NOT CALLED CIRCUS CIRCUS. RICK FOX (DICK FUCKS) CAME INTO THE PICTURE AND BLACKIE RAN INTO TONY RICHARDS AND DON COSTA WHO WERE IN DANTE FOX WHICH BECAME GREAT WHITE. WHICH WAS TONY, DON, RANDY AND BLACKIE. THEN BLACKIE GOT INTO A FIGHT WITH ME AND GOT HOLMES IN THE BAND. THEY PLAYED THEIR FIRST SHOW AT THE WOODSTOCK, DON COSTA WAS PLAYING BASS WITH A PIX AXE AND TOTALLY OUT OF TUNE. AT THE NEXT REHEARSAL, CHRIS THREATENED HIM AND SAID "HE WAS GOING TO CHEW HIS COCK OFF AND SPIT IT IN HIS FACE, IF HE EVER EMBARRASSED HIM AGAIN. DON LEFT AND WENT TO OZZY THAT NITE. BLACKIE CALLED ME BACK THAT SAME NITE.
You guys did some demos with Ace Frehley producing. What happened to those and why wasn’t a well written song like “1980’s Lady” ever used? ACE FREHLEY DIDN’T PRODUCE ANYTHING. BLACKIE THINKS HE’S A FRIEND OF HIS.
How did the first LP lineup of W.A.S.P. come together? REFER TO QUESTION #4.
How did W.A.S.P. get involved with the movie The Dungeon Master? CHRIS AND RANDY KNEW RICHARD MOLL FROM NIGHT COURT.
What were the early days of WASP like and what was it like playing the early days of the Strip scene? PLAYING AROUND AND BEING AROUND A DICTATOR IS LIKE BEING AN IRAQI.
How much involvement did you have in the recording of the first LP and was it your first time in a studio? MIKE VARNEY WAS A GREAT GUY TO WORK WITH. THEN BLACKIE CAME IN AND SUCKED ALL THE AIR OUT OF THE ROOM. NO, IT WASN’T MY FIRST TIME IN THE STUDIO.
What was it like touring on the first record and how were you accepted by the fans? CHRIS AND I HAD A GREAT TIME , WHEN WE RODE ON THE ROADIES BUS.
Why did Tony Richards leave after only one LP?? BLACKIE AND THE MANAGEMENT DIDN’T GIVE HIM A CHANCE.
Who was responsible for most of the lead guitars on the 2 studio lps that you played on? CHRIS AND I SPLIT IT.
Are you happy with the way the S/T and Last Command Lps came out and did it represent your best efforts? SPENCER PROFFER WAS A JOY TO WORK WITH. CHRIS AND I DID NOT HAVE A LOT OF SAY AFTER THE RECORDING.
What happened that made you leave W.A.S.P.? BLACKIE CAME TO ME AND SAID HE HAD AN IDEA FOR THE THIRD ALBUM, HE SAID " IT`S ME ON THE FRONT LIKE THIS, ITS ME ON THE BACK, LIKE THIS, AND WHEN YOU OPEN IT UP IT`S "ME" LIKE THIS."
You first put together Animal after leaving W.A.S.P. Tell us about that and what happened to that era of the band. WE MET THROUGH LITA AND MANAGEMENT FUCKED THAT UP TOO.
What musical projects did you do after Animal dissolved? KINGS HORSES, ALICE COOPER, MICHAEL WHITE.
When did you decide to put Animal back together? I KEPT IN TOUCH WITH THE GUYS AND WE FELT WE SHOULDN’T DROP THIS PROJECT.
How did you find the guys to round out the new lineup? I ALWAYS KNEW CHRIS WAS A FIT AND WE JUST NEEDED A DRUMMER WHO COULD DRINK AS MUCH, AND WE FOUND THIS GUY IN A BAR.
Is the material on the cd newer stuff or songs that you wrote in the past few years? PAST FEW YEARS.
Are you happy with the way the cd turned out? ITS NOT BAD FOR A DEMO.
How much touring will be done for the cd? HOW MANY BIKER BARS ARE THERE, AARON??
Will there be another Animal cd? IT`S ALREADY IN PRE-PRODUCTION.
What does the future hold for Randy Piper? MORE BIKER BARS ON SATURDAY NITES, AARON.
