"Niel Gow's Apprentice" by Michael Marra

Transcribed from MM's album "On Stolen Stationery".
At the end of this file, I have included guitar TABs for
two sections of the song: the 4-bar intro between verses and
the fiddle solo during the instrumental verse. The fiddle solo
is played mostly with a half-barre at fret 2, which might seem
strange but it makes it easy to play it in another key, which you
will have to unless you have a gravelly voice like MM.
Chords in the verse are the same as the chorus.
Comments/amendments etc. welcome.

Listen Niel, the apprentice has begun.

An old man looks at his ingle nook and he wonders
His brother in a foreign land, he must remain.
Deeved about the life they choose,
they each would wear the other one's shoes,
this mother-land is a source of constant pain.

Rumbling Brig, I heard your music calling
In the outback still I heard your song
Feeding from a foreign field
with far more fish than the Braan could yield,
this trip will be my last and it won't be long.
